Volunteer Committment
Volunteering at Meets
Volunteers are vital to the team and each family is required to work their required hours. It takes more than 40 people on the pool deck to facilitate a swim meet. This number does not include the people needed to set up the pool for meets or take down the meet equipment afterward. It also does not include the people needed to run our snack bar. Outside of meets, the team needs people willing to organize and help with fundraising, spirit wear, social activities, and the end-of-season awards ceremony.
We will be using SwimTopia to organize volunteers for meets and other events. SwimTopia allows volunteers to sign up online. See the Signup Calendar page for meets and events to volunteer.
Minimum Volunteer Requirements. Your volunteer requirement is based on the number of swimmers in your family and whether they swim in: 1.) A and B meets; 2.) only B meets; 3.) or are Mini Wildthings swimmers.
Reminders
- No more than one Social Job may count toward your requirements; most volunteer help is needed at the swim meets: timing, officiating, marshalling, etc.
- If you are not sure if your swimmer will be selected for A meets, start by signing up for all your B meet jobs and then add A meet jobs later if your swimmer is selected. If your child is selected for A meets, you will need to work at most of the A meets in which your child is swimming.
- You will be able to start signing up for Jobs on May 22, 2026. We will send reminder emails at that time. If a meet you wish to volunteer for has no open jobs, check back to see if any slots open. Struggling to find a fit for your skills and schedule? Please reach out sooner rather than later!
- Unlike some youth sport programs, there is no “buyout” system – the team needs you at the meets! Volunteering is required for your children to participate in swim team, and it is a great way to meet other swim parents. Failure to satisfy the swim team volunteer commitment by the end of the regular swim season (July 25, 2026) may result in a $125 charge to your Langley Club account for the “Volunteer Non-Compliance Fee.”
